Professionals Library Service, Inc. has an outstanding 35 year reputation servicing libraries in the Chicago legal and business community. Our clients are located in the downtown Chicago area. PLS, Inc. is active in the law library community and the Chicago Association of Law Libraries.

We are currently seeking to expand our staff with someone who has the acute attention to detail required for library work, combined with flexibility and customer service skills necessary to grow with our expanding small business. This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is interested in working in a law library environment, and who is excited by the challenge of working on a variety of different projects in different settings.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated hard-working individual who can work well independently, as well as manage multiple tasks under time constraints

The position requires good organizational and time management skills

Must have the ability to interact professionally with our clients in a business setting

Potential duties include ready reference, legal and business research, collection development, collection maintenance, serials maintenance, basic cataloging, some clerical and administrative work.

Knowledge of Westlaw, Lexis, Pacer, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access preferred

Ability to learn and use a variety of online research programs essential

Qualifications

Master of Library and Information Science Degree

Minimum one year of recent experience with legal or business research

We will consider qualified candidates currently enrolled in a Master of Library and Information Science program, and graduating within 6 months, with a minimum of 1 year recent experience in a law library reference position
