Chicago, IL: Library Assistant, Illinois Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Illinois Law Library has an immediate opening for a Library Assistant. This is a full-time position at the downtown Chicago Branch. The hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with some flexibility. This is a salaried position that offers medical, dental, vision, paid government holidays, and vacation benefits.

The Chicago Branch is staffed with one librarian and one paraprofessional. This library serves primarily the First District Supreme Court Justices (3) First District Appellate Court Justices (24) and Clerks (87). There are approximately 30,000 volumes.

Job Duties

· Process acquisitions
· Patron assistance
· Shelving
· Maintain periodicals
· Process library mail
· Clerical duties
· Retrieving Interlibrary Loan materials from other Chicago libraries
· Other tasks as assigned

Preferred Education and Skills

· Bachelor’s degree
· Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel
· Organization and attention to details
