WisDOT (Wisconsin Department of Transportation) is seeking to fill the following two positions.
Both positions are located in the Southeast Region with headquarters in West Allis, WI.
Engineering Technician Transportation Journey (Traffic Signal Technician) Duties :
· The installation and service of electrical traffic control equipment under the general direction of a journeyman electrician.
· The inspection of contractor projects and the operation and maintenance of larger size mechanical equipment and vehicles used by the unit.
· Making existing installations safe from electrical hazards in emergency situations and, where possible, restoring the system into workable order until permanent repairs can be made by an electrician.

Engineering Technician Transportation Advanced Duties:
The initial loading of signal and lighting data into the SigIMS program. The complexity is enormous in that the Region has 464 (47%) of all signalized intersections, 195 (55%) lighting centers covering over 3,000 lighting fixtures, and 25 (14%) of all the flashers in the State.
Perform traffic engineering field coordination and direction of electrical maintenance, primarily in the area of highway lighting.
Makes contacts with vendors and select the best source in terms of quality, price, and other pertinent considerations.
Track material orders, maintain accurate records of invoices, receipts and verification of price quotes.
Schedule just in time receipt of goods and manage 35,000 square feet space for warehoused materials.
Schedule the pick-up of State furnished materials to contractors and Counties.
Serve as the Hazmat Coordinator for the facility overseeing the collection, storage and shipping of hazardous materials and waste
