The MSU Libraries is looking for creative colleagues to join our team!

The position is Assistant Professor/Special Collections Cataloger tenure-track position. This position contributes to the development of a virtual research database by performing original and complex adaptive cataloging of special collections monographic materials representing all subject matter and all formats according to RDA, AACR2R, Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements (LC-PCC PSs), LC Classification, LC Subject Headings, and MARC21 formats. Creates, reviews and edits metadata for the Libraries’ unique materials, including rare books, artists’ books, maps, graphics, publications by the University and its faculty, and web-based materials in multiple languages, formats and time periods, according to national and local standards for rare materials description.

Minimum qualifications for position: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program; Minimum of one to two (1-2) years of cataloging experience in an academic or archival setting; Experience with standards for bibliographic and authority data; Familiarity with RDA and AACR2R and metadata schema such as Dublin Core, EAD, METS, MODS.
