The Van Meter Public Library is seeking applicants for the position of Library Director.
The Director is responsible for all aspects of library operations and functions, for advocating for the library at all times, and meeting the requirements of the Library Board, the community, the staff, and local and state government. The Director is also responsible for spearheading the “New Van Meter Public Library” project, and must work closely with the Van Meter Library Foundation and the Board of Directors to manage the strategic plan and campaign to raise funds for the new library.

Qualified applicants should possess a Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Science, or a related field such as Education, Public Administration, or Business. (New graduates are encouraged to apply.)
Consideration will be given to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Public Administration, Education, or a related field; experience working a considerate number of year in public libraries or other library institutions; and are able to obtain a Level 4 Public Library Director Certification from the State of Iowa within the first 2 years of employment.
Starting salary is $30,000-$36,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience, plus generous health benefits provided by the city, including IPERS.
