Clinical Information Librarian

The University of Minnesota Libraries invites applications for a Clinical
Information Librarian. We seek applicants who are innovative and flexible,
offer subject expertise and technology skills, and possess an understanding
of the patient care, clinical research, and educational needs of
professional and graduate programs in the health professions.

We are seeking an outgoing, proactive, engaged professional who can develop
collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and students in designated
departments, research centers and institutes within the Medical School (
http://www.med.umn.edu/ ), and create new tools, programs, and initiatives
that respond to information trends in medical education, practice and
research.

The University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center (AHC,
http://www.health.umn.edu/) is one of the nation’s few comprehensive
centers encompassing programs in medicine, nursing, dentistry, public
health, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, and allied health, as well as a
number of interdisciplinary programs that serve the entire University. A
new Health Sciences Education Center is being planned, and a new Health
Sciences Library will be a key element of the Center.

Responsibilities of the Clinical Information Librarian include forging
relationships with clinical care teams in assigned departments of the
Medical School providing consultation and collaboration with a diverse
community of clinical faculty, trainees and health professions staff;
participating in hospital rounds, morning report, case conferences, and
other clinically relevant forums; working with clinical care teams in the
University’s experiential learning sites to understand workflow and
clinical information requirements, and identify how knowledge-based
resources can be integrated into clinical research and practice;
collaborating with researchers to develop strategies in managing clinical
research data; and seeking opportunities to partner with researchers in
projects or grants that require deep expertise in information science and
data management.

Required qualifications include: an American Library Association accredited
Master’s degree in Library/Information Science OR equivalent combination of
advanced degree and relevant experience; and, experience in a health
science or academic research library. Among preferred qualifications are: a
degree in the physical, life, health, or related sciences; and,
demonstrated understanding of scientific research processes and methods for
measuring research impact.

This is a full-time, 12-month, continuous-appointment track, academic
professional position with probationary appointment at Assistant or
Associate Librarian
