The Brainerd Lakes Area has 465 lakes within 30 minutes of Brainerd,
our community is the perfect place to enjoy outdoor and recreational
activities and summer on the lake. Brainerd is also centrally located
to all that Minnesota has to offer and Brainerd Public Library is
right in the middle of it all. We are proud to host an interactive
early literacy environment called the Smart Play Spot which was
created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum. The library has beautiful
public art installations, new outdoor seating areas and gardens, a
dedicated and passionate staff, a vibrant Friends of the Library and
tremendous community support.

Our dynamic library bustles over the summer with over 1,000 children
participating in the Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading
Program lasts for eight weeks and is available for children ages 0-18.
Children who don’t read during the summer can lose up to two months of
learning by the time they return to school in the fall! Studies also
indicate students who read recreationally outperformed those who don’t
so Summer Reading Programs encourages the children to keep reading in
a fun and interactive way.
