Job Opening: Electronic Services Librarian
Salary: $60,361.60 – $68,993.60/Annually

The Fitchburg Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Electronic Services Librarian.

The Electronic Services Librarian carries primary responsibility for managing electronic services in the library. This includes maintaining library software and hardware, developing and maintaining the library website, selecting and promoting subscription information databases and online resources, and assisting and training library users with technology. The electronic services librarian is a member of the library management team, takes the lead in technology planning, and is the library liaison to the City IT department.

Essential Functions:
Provides professional-level information services to customers.
Develops and offers technology training to the public and staff on computer applications and information seeking with electronic resources.
Serves as the library webmaster, designing and maintaining the library website and working with staff to create content for the sites.
Engages in long-range technology planning with the library management team, the City, and South Central Library System (SCLS).
Maintains and troubleshoots problems with library computers, peripherals, and servers.
Works in collaboration with library staff to select library database subscriptions and electronic resources.
Works with SCLS and WiLS when selecting and purchasing library databases to explore cost savings through collaborative purchasing.
Manages library meeting room reservations.
Conducts service evaluations and collects use statistics.
Participates in creation and implementation of library strategic plan.
Serves as the library liaison to the Fitchburg Historical Society.
Member of the library management team.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited institution required.
At least one year of significant experience in technology in a library setting required.
Coursework in web and database design preferred.
Experience in general computing, hardware, software, networking, and library automation preferred.
Prefer experience with digital libraries and digitization projects.

Hours for this full-time position will include evenings and weekends.
