Coordinator of Information Literacy Instruction and User Experience Librarian

Essential Functions of Job:

  • Assume leadership for instruction and user services
  • Designs and implements effective library instruction for embedded librarian projects, on site classroom, and for remote access users
  • Promotes information literacy objectives with faculty and works closely with faculty in the design of instruction
  • Plans and prepares tutorials that reinforce classroom instruction and promote library services as well as creating publications (in consultation with the University
  • Publication Office) marketing these services
  • Develops assessment tools to determine the outcomes of library instruction based on ACRL goals and objectives

  • Collaborates with the library staff in overall programming, teaching, and embedded librarianship
  • Collaborates with the staff of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to reinforce information literacy skills across the curriculum and assist faculty, staff, and students with technology and learning concepts
  • Shares duties at the research and user services station
  • Shares circulation services whenever needed
  • Works at least one evening per week and occasional weekends
  • Acts as liaison to academic departments on campus, attends college & faculty meetings, and serves, if necessary, on faculty committees
  • Assists the Campus Engagement & Instruction librarian with library social media accounts
  • Participates in professional and scholarly activities
  • Participates in university professional and social activities

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • An ALA accredited MLS required
  • Knowledge and understanding of ACRL’s Information Literacy Standards for Higher Education
  • Knowledge of learning styles and teaching methods that address diverse learner’s needs
  • Demonstrates effectiveness as an instructor in a classroom setting
  • Familiar with commonly used academic computing, Web, and digital multi-media technologies
  • Commitment to public service and information literacy instruction
  • Possesses exceptional relational skills, including oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of library systems
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to be flexible in working environments and to have a desire to work in diverse settings
  • Able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure
  • Minimum of two year academic library information literacy experience preferred
