The MediaPreserve is seeking a committed and resourceful Metadata Specialist to join our team and provide an important component to our workflow.

Position Function: Responsible for the creation and management of a wide variety of metadata schema’s pertaining to the description and management of audio visual assets and collections. Ensuring the quality and accuracy of metadata delivered to clients as specified in contractual specifications.

Minimum Education: MLS/MLIS/MIS from and ALA accredited program.

Preferred Education: Film History, Audio or Video Technical Certification

Minimum Experience: Knowledge of metadata concepts and sets, controlled vocabularies, cataloging standards; AV digitization techniques, multimedia software.

Familiarity: (one or more) METS, MODS, PBCore, PREMIS; BWF MetaEdit, MP4 headers, MP3 headers, QuickTime annotations, XML and XLST crosswalks.

Minimum Other: Effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Experience: More than one year of experience with cataloging standards and a variety of metadata standards and best practices.

Job Duty 1: Develop and direct the creation of metadata for a wide variety of audio, video and film assets; both in their original analog state and the creation of digital files and formats.

Job Duty 2: Advise the Director of IT, Production Manager and Preservation Program staff on policies, procedures, workflows and best practices for optimum quality of all metadata records created relative to contractual specifications.

Job Duty 3: Development and evaluation of technologies, tools and metrics to insure the quality and accuracy of all metadata creation.
