Johnson Creek, WI: Library Director, Johnson Creek Public Library

The Johnson Creek Public Library is accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of library director. This position is open due to the retirement of the current director. Applicants should be enthusiastic supporters of public libraries with a passion for cultivating learning and literacy, and engaging the community. A strong candidate will have an understanding of 21st Century skills with ability to triage basic problems; excellent communication skills; the ability to remain positive and flexible; and a demonstrated ability to lead people.

The Johnson Creek Public Library is a member of the Bridges Library System, which includes the 24 public libraries located in Jefferson and Waukesha counties. The library serves a municipal community of 2,933 and provides library services to the rural residents of Jefferson County and the surrounding areas. Johnson Creek is located at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Highway 26 and is approximately half way between Madison and Milwaukee.

The Library Director is under the direct supervision of a five member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the operations of the library including serving as the library’s executive officer and technical advisor to the board; maintaining budget and other fiscal responsibilities; supervising staff and facilities; and developing community partnerships.

• Bachelor’s degree from a liberal arts program
• Minimum Wisconsin Public Librarian Certification based on Village population or eligibility for required minimum certification
• Maintenance of required certification through necessary coursework and/or qualifying continuing education
• At least three years of relevant experience that includes supervisory responsibilities
• A valid Driver’s License is needed.

Commensurate with training and experience, with benefits of health and dental insurance, sick leave, paid vacations and holidays, plus enrollment in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
