Boston, MA; Digital Archivist, Museum of Fine Arts

Under the direction of the Manager of Image Licensing, the Digital Archivist is responsible for the recording and cataloging of visual collection information and serving as a liaison to the MFA Photo Studio. Essential functions include: assigning scan numbers to all new digital images created by the MFA Photo Studio; cataloging all information in Artemis to provide the museum with access to the visual collection for research and ordering purposes; archiving all digital images produced from new photography and special projects; entering records for events, sites and constituents into TMS; proofing digital images in TMS Artemis for Museum objects and life and times photography; working with MFA photography staff to archive life and times photography related to installation, events, constituents and site documentation; cataloging external photography of objects and life and times used for curatorial and educational research, exhibition planning, public relations and publications; working with MFA Studio and Intellectual Property Coordinator to monitor the studio schedule for the timely completion of photographic orders.

Requirements: BA in Art History or Library Science; 3 to 5 years of related experience; knowledge of digital file formats, video formats and database systems; superb organizational skills; ability to multitask while sustaining a high level of accuracy; must be adept at working on PC and Mac platforms; strong relationship management skills.
