Philadelphia, PA: Part-Time Preschool Librarian, Children’s Village

Children’s Village is seeking a part-time librarian for 25 hours weekly to help organize and staff our center’s lending library. The library of over 4,500 volumes is an integral part of Children’s Village’s literacy program. We are seeking an individual who enjoys working with children and promoting literacy skills.Children’s Village is a non-profit that provides early childhood education and school-age academic enrichment distinguished by excellence and family diversity. Working together with children, parents, and the community, we promote a society that is fair, compassionate, and economically vibrant.

The center is located near Chinatown and convenient to public transportation.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Degree: Masters of Library Science preferred but not required.

2. Experience: Some experience in a library or educational setting required. Experience in early childhood and/or elementary education is desired. Knowledge of children’s literature and experience in story-telling highly desirable. Technology skills needed to manage computer-based library system.

3. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population, including English language learners. Bilingual, Chinese-speaking skills preferred, but not required.

Wage: $17 to $20 AN HOUR, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE – PAID LEAVE TIME for sick and vacation
