Minimum requirements: Accredited master’s degree or higher in library/information science, or other relevant graduate degree with demonstrated familiarity with health information resources. Sufficient knowledge, through either academic coursework or on-the-job training, of quantitative concepts to explain them to others. Curiosity and ability to learn new/unfamiliar software to enhance the productivity of learners and faculty. Preferred: Experience with statistical software (SPSS, Graph Pad Prism, or other packages). Understanding of the research life cycle. Experience locating epidemiological and statistical data for health care decision-making. Experience with projects where stakeholders may not be librarians. Experience with a learning management system, and with survey software, such as LimeSurvey or REDCap. Experience with bibliographic citation management programs, such as EndNote. Either a graduate degree from a library/information science program accredited by the American Library Association OR the equivalent combination of education and experience in a library; an understanding of general library procedures; organizational ability. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to contribute to a team-oriented, collaborative environment as well as to work independently; problem solving ability; working knowledge of office productivity software; and ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, faculty and staff.
Preferred: Health sciences reference experience, including database searching; familiarity with medical vocabulary and evidence‐based practice as it relates to the literature; membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals; experience with EndNote or a citation management software package; experience with a learning management system (LSU Health Shreveport uses Moodle)

The Research Support Librarian II (Health Sciences) provides Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) and Evidence-Based Public Health (EBPH) resources, tools and training, and research support in general biomedical and public health resources to the departments and programs in the Health Sciences Center at Tulane University. This position is part of the Matas Library’s coordinated team approach to user support services offering research consultations, general or specialized instruction, and programming tailored to the requirements of the clinical, biomedical research, and public health communities at the point and place of need. As part of the Tulane Libraries’ broader scholarly engagement groups, this position will collaborate with colleagues on the uptown campus in instruction and outreach efforts as appropriate to serve the whole of the life and health sciences communities at Tulane.
