The Kathrine R. Everett Law Library seeks applicants for the position of Cataloging and Metadata Services Librarian (CMSL). The CMSL is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and enrichment of metadata representing the library’s digital, physical, and virtual collections. This position manages the ongoing work of the law library’s catalog and is responsible for the cataloging of materials in all formats, including print and digital resources. This position works closely with colleagues to evaluate and document policies, procedures and workflows for cataloging, database maintenance and non-MARC metadata creation within the library. Collaborates with other law library departments and other University of North Carolina campus libraries within the University Library System to help establish metadata policies and procedures for all projects. This position serves as a forward-thinking leader within and beyond Law Library Collection Services on matters of resource description and metadata management and a proven ability and willingness to share expertise with colleagues. These responsibilities require professional judgment and a clear understanding of the mission of the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library which supports students, faculty, the university, and the state. This appointment is governed by the Law Librarian Ranking Plan, which provides terms for multi-year contracts, reappointments, and promotions. Librarians, like all library staff, have leadership responsibilities. Leadership for librarians includes activities such as contributing to goals and strategic library directions through active participation on committees, teams, and task forces and sharing expertise throughout the library in order to further library and university missions. Librarians participate in other department, library, university, and professional activities, as appropriate. The NCSU Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Research Librarian for Design to join the Design Library team of two librarians, two library technicians, and several student assistants working to support learning, research, and discovery in the College of Design. The Design Library offers dynamic, collaborative services and a multimedia collection focused on architecture, landscape architecture, graphic design, industrial design, and art and design. Design Library staff engage faculty and students across all aspects of their academic work, helping them to explore collections, services, spaces, and technologies such as data visualization, 3D modeling, virtual environments, and digital media creation. Library staff work closely with faculty and other university partners to create meaningful connections, partnerships, and projects. Working with College of Design faculty and students, the Research Librarian for Design develops and delivers high-impact learning experiences, including instruction and workshops on library resources and on emerging digital tools and resources in areas such as visualization and virtual and augmented reality, both in the classroom and online. The position leads and coordinates services that facilitate the use of visual resources and digital image collections. S/He manages the Design Library Digital Image Collection, a database of 150,000 images, and supervises the staff and students who update and maintain it. S/He plans and conducts a variety of outreach and engagement programs and activities, such as orientations, special events, and tours, for the design community and others. The Research Librarian for Design provides in-depth research consultation with students, faculty, and researchers; and collaborates with faculty, researchers, librarians, technologists, and others on strategic interdisciplinary projects. S/he is responsible for the library in the absence of its director, including managing operations and overseeing the work of others. This position serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams, as well as working groups and committees within the college. NCSU librarians are expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the field. The position reports to the Director of the Harrye B. Lyons Design Library.
